Bounties are our way of linking up writers and patrons to collaborate on stories that we can all enjoy.
How It Works
For Bounty Sponsors:
Come up with an idea for a story you’d like to have written. At present, we’re looking for short stories, so bear that in mind. You can specify something as simple as a short prompt, up to an outline that needs to be fleshed out.
You’ll also be expected to offer a reward. The more complex the Bounty, the more the reward ought to be. For instance, a prompt can carry a reward of just a few dollars, but the reward for a complete outline should be in the same ballpark as our contest rewards. Age of Ruin accepts payments the same ways we offer them.
You’ll also want to come up with a span of time in which you’d like your Bounty filled. Several months is fairly typical.
If multiple writers submit on a single bounty offer, the Bounty Sponsor gets to decide which story best fulfills his bounty, and the reward will go to that writer. Sponsors can use whatever criteria they like to judge, and we encourage Sponsors and Writers to actively collaborate. We’re happy to share contact information between parties with each of their permission to facilitate communication.
For Writers:
If you see a posted Bounty you’d like to claim, send us an email saying you’re writing a bountied story. If the Bounty’s sponsor is interested, we can put you in touch with them. If you want more information on a bounty, don’t hesitate to email us either. And of course, you’re free to write and submit to claim a bounty without anyone’s permission.
